Alan Helvig is a dedicated husband, father of five and grandfather of 23. Alan and his wife, Alicia, celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in May of 2008.
He is a highly decorated Marine Corps Veteran who attained the rank of CWO-2. His tours of duty include a five month stint with the UNHCR in Bosnia and Serbia.
Alan writes a monthly op/ed column for the Holland Sentinel in Michigan, which is usually published every third Monday. All of his published articles are posted on this weblog, along with a number of previously unpublished articles and letters.
He is a Children's Leader for Bible Study Fellowship during the school year and a Community Group Leader for his local church.
